Christina Nunez -Self protriats 3/10/14

Cristina Nunez

Cristina Nuñez is a self-taught artist who work include photography, video and performance. In 1988, in an attempt to overcome personal problems, Cristina Nuñez took her bioptical Rolleiflex camera and began to take self-portraits in private. Giving shape to her emotions and revealing her presence to the world as allowed her to project herself as she wanted to be. One of Cristina project  BODY AND SOUL contained intimate journal of portraits and nude people. After  producing self portraits for 6 years Christina  felt the urge to look at others with her bioptical Rolleiflex. she stated she felt  she saw them for the first time, and I was so thrilled that I wanted to see them exposed to find their essence in their face and body.

Cristina used these images  as tool of self-therapy ,through which she learned about who she was as person. In the last decade, Nuñez has used her personal experience to create her unique self-portrait method, which she teaches around the world. These two paths, through which Nuñez states that,   “The existing separation between art and therapy is intolerable,” she had stated here that, keeping art and therapy away only brings pain, christian now uses that focus on her art.
